Barry J. GoehlerBarry became a shareholder of the firm in 2008.  He joined Lehner & Rodrigues in March of 2005, after he retired from the U.S. Navy’s JAG Corps. He has a proven record of successful litigation in federal and state courts.  In addition to litigation experience, Barry brings significant expertise in environmental law to the firm.  He advised and guided Navy activities to ensure compliance with applicable substantive and procedural environmental law, focusing on the requirements of the Endangered Species Act, Marine Mammal Protection Act, and other resource protection laws. He has also been responsible for environmental planning for several major Federal projects.

Barry’s areas of expertise include all aspects of attorney ethics and professional conduct. Barry administered the Navy’s professional responsibility program, which involved drafting model rules, providing ethics advice to attorneys, and managing a disciplinary program that involved the investigation and sanctioning of attorneys.

As a complement to his legal experience and abilities, Barry has a strong background in science and engineering, which allows him to identify and understand complex and technical issues in our cases.

Barry is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and obtained his J.D. degree magna cum laude from the University of San Diego in 1992. He also obtained an LLM in environmental law, with highest honors from George Washington School of Law in 2002. Barry is admitted to practice in Oregon, Washington and Florida.
